2007 album from the Punk/Pop stalwarts, the second installment of a three-album trilogy that started with 2005's Sound The Alarm. Recorded, mixed, and produced in the band's own Electric Ladybug Studios in Chico, CA, the band did a lot of the work themselves. They did enlist the help of producer friends Eric Stenman and Marc Hudson. Whoever did what in the studio, the band has created their most brilliant record to date. It's filled with that Saves The Day goodness: catchy hooks, Pop supremacy, and lots of different, new twists and turns. The band plans on another new studio album in Spring of 2008. That one will complete the trilogy. And, of course, the band plans on touring. They also have some other tricks up their collective sleeves that will leave fans happy. But you'll have to wait for those details. Vagrant.
Customer Reviews:
Customer Rating: Summary: pretty damn good Comment: I haven't liked Saves the Day since STay WHat you are...The last couple have been boring..But I recently Downloaded this album and really enjoy almost every song. not perfect but good for new STD. Customer Rating: Summary: Meh... Comment: i picked up this album with high expectations after reading the reviews on amazon...despite what the one guy said...i don't think this album caters to the "old heads"...unlike many saves the day fans...i feel that their best music started with through being cool...stay what you are was comparable in some aspects...but the main thing that drew me to STD was their ability to take morbid lyrics and make them sound incredibly happy and upbeat...sound the alarm touched on that and imo was a great album...
this album has some similarities to sound the alarm in some of its overall sound...but is more reminicent of in reverie
this could be like in reverie...in that...it takes me a while to really get into it...if that happens i'll adjust me review
for now...not an incredibly strong album Customer Rating: Summary: False Hope Comment: If you're a fan of the old stuff and got excited at the prospect of them getting back to their roots at the release of "Sound the Alarm" this album disappoints by going back the other direction. It's still a good listen. Customer Rating: Summary: Addictive STD again... Comment: I had given up on STD after Sound The Alarm, which I couldn't listen too. So I didn't even realize they had a new record out until just a few days ago. The new album is a pleasant surprise. Its not Through Being Cool or Stay What You Are, but as a body of work I give it 5 stars. Customer Rating: Summary: Good for old STD fans... Bad for new ones... Comment: Under the Boards is pretty good and most Saves the Day fans will like at least a few of the better songs on this CD. However, if you are a new Saves the Day fan, I highly recommend buying Stay What You Are, Through Being Cool, Can't Slow Down, or I'm Sorry I'm Leaving. Those early albums are much, much better than this CD and deserve a listen by new fans.
