WorldWideRetro Announces Spring Day Design
Site News WorldWideRetro is seperating their design, CMS contributions and technical support from their Kustom Kulture Web Site WorldWideRetro.Com. The technical stuff on on WWR seemed a bit out of place for our normal visitors of Hot Rodders, Rockabillies, and Kustom Kulture junkies. A change was in order.

Everything we do from now on that is design, hosting or CMS related will be through Spring Day Design ( springday.com ) .

To help launch Spring Day Design we have upgraded some of our popular 9.0.x themes to 9.1.x. The very popular Retro theme is now available as 9.1.x as well as the complete theme set previously known as WWR_Voodoo. We have seperated the multiple color variations into six different downloads, added "Extras" files with a couple of different blank header graphics in each, and did a few more modifications to accomodate the latest browsers and huge monitors.

Finally, we have release a brand new and unique 9.1.x theme called Shadow Class.

All of these are currently available for download.

Again, all support for WorldWideRetro themes and other CMS contributions can now be found at SpringDay.Com. The mirror links at WWR will stay, so no need to update any of your download sites.

Thanks for your assistance!

Hell Hath FURY!
Coming Events Thanks to Jeff & Jim at Gas From The Past Slammer's Bananna Boat Fury III has a new coat! She now sports a John Deere Chassis Flat Black paint job with a silver metalflake roof. The roof required six bottles of the HUGE Metalflake covered by eleven coats of clear lacquer to get it burried! The paint job was finished last night (Thursday June 14, 2007). The boys are spending today gettin' her back together and dolled up.

There will be an official unveiling TONIGHT (Friday June 15, 2007) at the Pleasant Hill Cruise Night in front of Gas From The Past. Julie Major and her Minor Mood Swings will be playing. I hope all my Kansas City Peops can make it out.

T. Paul Remembered
Site News T. Paul Has Passed on...

On Thursday, May 31st, the Iconic T. Paul Ste Marie passed away at the age of 41.

He leaves behind a legendary struggle to make the most of life, while embracing and fostering the creative spirit of anyone who dared take themselves seriously. He was a friend to the emergent Artist, and a mentor to many. He opened doors, and he will be missed.

If you knew of him, you liked him.

If you knew him personally, it was a rare glimpse into a Man who persevered though monumental struggles, to find his place and create his own success. "I Can't" did not exist in his vocabulary.

Good bye T. Paul,
Safe journeys (where ever that is).

To you I tip my hat in honor of your fine and Passionate Invocation...

RETRO Theme Updated to Dragonfly CMS 9.1.x
Site News After multiple requests I took the time to update my popular RETRO theme from DF CMS 9.0.x to 9.1.x. It is available for public download HERE.

This was a "quick and dirty" conversion to help some folks out and also the first attempt at upward compatibility for me so I am sure you may find some issues. Just drop me a line and I'll try to get them ironed out.

Don't Forget! This theme REQUIRES ThemeCP and there are references in the footer to DownloadsPro and WebLinksPro. If you do not have these modules installed YOU WILL GET ERRORS.

For Our "Hot Rod" Friends in India...
Coming Events Indian Autorickshaw Challenge- Mumbai Express Rally

Preparations for the very first Indian Autorickshaw Challenge- Mumbai Express Rally have gotten fully underway this week, as the organisation ready themselves for the August 5th 2007 start.

The administration certainly has their work cut out for them, as this the most wild, unpredictable, and unique road race ever organised. The entrants to this amateur adventure will all be enjoying the crazy Indian night life and pushing their endurance to the limit by day as they cover 1921 km along India’s western and central regions, all in local Tuk-Tuks. The Tuk Tuk –A.K.A the Autorickshaw – is India’s three wheeled work horse and general purpose runabout, which hundreds of brave entrants shall be piling into, making their own, and then pushing to the limits and beyond.

The job of the organisers over the next few months before the starting flag drops in Chennai is not just finalised logistics, but also to ensure that the Adopt A Village program - the real heart of the event – is all ready to go. The unique Adopt A village scheme will see each member team being assigned a specific village along the road route, where they will stop off to deliver supplies and badly needed aid. This aid will particularly be used to further the education of the village’s children, and each donation will have huge positive effects for generations to come in these depressed areas.

At the moment the organisers are still looking for a few final all-important sponsors to ensure that the rally can have the best possible impact on these impoverished rural areas. With the highly visible international profile of the already infamous Autorickshaw Classic Rally, the prospects look good for both the organisers and potential sponsors.

“Games & Dames,” Austin, TX – Winning Hand of Casino games & Burlesque!
REDRUM NIGHTCLUB, Austin, TX introduces a monthly showcase aptly titled “GAMES & DAMES.” Set to premiere on Tuesday, March 13th, 2007. Hearkening back to the sultry songstresses of Wild West saloons, the tantalizing teasers of WWII canteens, and the bump-n-grinding showgirls of Rat-Pack Vegas, GAMES & DAMES has coupled the tried and true American traditions of beauty and betting. All just 1 block from the Austin Convention Center and South by SouthWest Film Conferences.

The idea behind GAMES & DAMES is to recapture the essence of true burlesque, which went far beyond the well-known shake and shimmy routine. “What is commonly forgotten is that burlesque was not only sexy and scandalous, but also funny, amazing, and full of variety,” says Miss Maulie, the event’s co-producer. “Between performances by only the most gorgeous ladies, we also offer world class live music, comedy, acrobats, illusionists, fire-dancers, jugglers, aerialists…a night of entertainment you won’t find anywhere else.” Add to this Vegas style table games, and you can’t lose!

- Stripteaser extraordinaire & pinup vixen, Miss Maulie - The Kentucky wildcat has graced the pages of Leg Show, Lowrider, and Ol’Skool Rodz. Title holder of “Miss Heavy Rebel” for both 2006 AND 2007.

ABC TV SEARCHES FOR RETRO & GLAM FAMILIES
Media News ABC TV's Wife Swap seeks families for remaining episodes for 3rd season. Casting Producers currently seek families who are passionate about all-things-retro and enjoy a glam sensibility/ wardrobe.

Ideal candidates would be families with vibrant personalities were everyone regularly visit vintage shops, enjoys rockabilly and/or or garage rock, attend car shows, and who love non-stop-bop! Fifties enthusiasts should apply.

All families featured on the show receive a $20,000 honorarium. Referrals for families are extremely welcome; the more the better! The show offers a $1,000 finder’s fee to individuals recommending families who are then featured on the show.

Potential families can live anywhere in the continental United States and should consist of two parents who have at least one child, age 6 or older, living at home.

The premise of Wife Swap is that one parent from each household swaps places for a week to experience how another family lives. It is an incredible family opportunity to both learn and teach different family values. The New York Post says, "It should be called ‘Life Swap’ because it's not just the wives who learn something here. It's the families."

Vintage Bakelite, Celluloid, Lucite Jewelry & Kitchenware
Merchandise Antique and Vintage Bakelite Jewelry plus all Antique and Vintage Plastics including Celluloid, Lucite, Bakelite Kitchenware, Flatware, Utensils and Collectibles have gained significant respect and are being sought after more and more each year since more are being collected by all generations.

Many people don't realize how many objects in their home when they were growing up was actually made from Bakelite and Lucite. Kitchen Clocks, That Plastic Radio that played all the time, The Handles of Flatware and Utensils, Egg Beaters, Ice Cream Scoopers, The Tops of Sugar Shakers, Can Openers, Pot Handles and so much more were made from Bakelite and Lucite. Even Telephones were made from Bakelite. The Marriage of Bakelite and Lucite showed itself in Two-tone Flatware and Costume Jewelry and is not limited to solids only. A variety of Patterns such as Checkerboards, Dots, Animals, Pearlized Designs, End-Of-Day in a Vast array of Colors were produced. Spoons with Bakelite Handles are hardest to find since Boxed Bakelite Kitchenware Flatware Sets were mostly sold with only the Forks and Knives for Picnics and Luncheons. If you can, have a look around Grandmas or Moms Kitchen and Jewelry Box. I bet you'll find some Wonderful Collectible Bakelite that you never noticed before.

Plastics such as Bakelite were primarily made to provide the public with less expensive items especially during the hardships of World War II. Incredibly Plastics such as Celluloid have been around since the 1800's!

Celluloid was invented by John Wesley Hyatt in 1869 and was widely used in 1890-1917 all through the Victorian Era, Art Nouveau and parts of the Art Deco Period. Because Celluloid is highly flammable, manufacturing was for a limited time and had discontinued until safer plastics had been introduced, making Vintage and Antique Celluloid Jewelry Highly Collectible today.

Bakelite on the other hand is unmeltable. It is an early Polymeric Plastic made from a Phenol Formaldehyde Resin invented by Leo Hendrik Baekeland in 1907 while he was trying to invent a varnish.

Lucite, another Vintage Plastic, was actually invented by the Chemists of the Dupont Company in 1931 during the Art Deco Period and was durable and practical for the production of supplies during World War II. It became a popular medium for Fashionable Jewelry, as well as Lucite Handbags in the 1950's and was also incorporated into Bakelite Utensils!

Be gentle with your Bakelite and wash them by hand. A Dishwashing Machine will ruin the finish. Always buy what you like and be Creative with All Vintage Plastics. Display your Bakelite, Celluloid, Lucite Brooches and Jewelry in a Lucite Box in your Livingroom as a conversation piece. Design your Kitchen with Vintage Bakelite Utensils, Cookware and Appliances for a Fantastic Vintage Appearance. And always Buy from reputable and knowledgeable dealers.
